SENDONG HITS CAGAYAN DE ORO

This house rests on a concrete fence along the road leadingto Nazareth near the Rotunda.  The flood waters were so high, they carried homes, cars and other debris.
Typhoon Sendong (International Code Name: Washi) slammed into Cagayan de Oro City last December  16, 2011 causing widespread flooding in the city which claimed the lives of more than 600 residents.  Hundreds more had been reported missing as the rising waters caught residents by surprise.  The number of casualties are expected to rise as search and retrieval operations continue even beyond Christmas time.
This car was completely submerged in muddy waters.
Emily Homes subdivision in Macanhan was one of the severely affected areas in the city.  Water levels here reached the second floor of residences.
Cars nestle on each other blocking roads.

A metal stairway to the 2nd floor gives us a clue as to how far the mud reached at the height of the flooding.

The ALTAR of this home remains intact.

As if the furnitures were lodged inside a huge washing machine.
