As part of its aim to promote dialogue between theology and the bigger society, the SJVTS Theological Forum held last July 29 took the theme: POLITICS & THE CHURCH: CHALLENGES TO CHRISTIAN EVANGELIZATION. Guest speakers during the forum were Mayor Romeo Tiongco of the Municipality of Damulog, Bukidnon and Bishop Emeritus of Malaybalay Honesto Pacana, SJ, DD. Mayor Tiongco, who was just elected for a second term, stressed on the value of "ENGAGED CITIZENSHIP" while Bishop Pacana echoed the CBCP's thrust toward CRITICAL COLLABORATION. During the Open Forum, questions regarding the Church and government's stand on sex education, leadership and Christian witnessing issues made the forum extra interesting. Among the groups which attended the forum included the seminarians from the San Jose Seminary, the Ursulline Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Sons of the Divine Providence, campus ministers, etc. The Theological Forum was organized by the SJVTS Academic Liaisons Group headed by Seminarian Alfred Delfino.
